Grand Hotel Castrocaro

Past is not a mere heritage to us; it is tradition.
The matter, molded by architecture, is not inanimate but full of strength and memories.

Through the coherence of details, an exceptionally complex system of spaces becomes a choral narration. The compositive sequence runs through the Grand Hotel building, from the common areas of ground floor with the majestic Piacentini restaurant. It continues along the main staircase, enfolded in the sober elegance of Black Marquina marble; it touches the first and second floor bedrooms, for which a slight refitting of coatings, upholsteries and accessories was enough. It culminates in the third and fourth floor suites, where classical materials as serpentine and brass match with winding shapes, reflections and the neat shades of furniture details.
The Spa vibrates with the green and dark tones of splitted serpentine, in a scheme of shaded spaces; a metaphor of caves, chasing deeper and deeper the treasure of a miracle water, at last being invaded by it. Water as a protagonist, archetype, building material.
